Tonight, the youth of First United Methodist Church Plano will be raising awareness of homelessness in north Texas with a homeless city simulation, Youth Box City. They will be accepting donations for The Samaritan Inn, Collin County's only homeless shelter.
Activities at tonight's Youth Box City aim to dispel myths of homelessness and make it a community issue, says John Cravens, minister with youth that the church. "It's not just about the common picture we have of the homeless which seems far away and in large cities. This is also about people within our community, families these kids may even know."
Pictures and a full story of this event will be published in the upcoming October 8 edition of The Reporter.
