Linky Friday

As there is nothing new under the sun, today I'm just going to share some items I've stumbled across this week:

  • Gavin has an all-too-familiar question: How can those who suffer from the illness of always saying "yes" learn when it's a good idea to say "no"? Especially us ministry types.
  • A while back, Gavin also linked to this guy, who I've found fascinating. The big shocker: he's Baptist!  (My extended family's full of Southern Baptists, and while everybody's friendly, there has been an obvious demarcation between the UMs and the rest of the gang for as long as I can remember.)
  • We've noted a resurgence of writing on spam guilt lately. Related to the things that land in our email inboxes, here's a post from Questing Parson in which he asks a fellow Christian to think for a minute before passing along emailed items that just aren't true. He specifically wants us to remember our baptismal vows before we click "forward."

There you have it. My short list for the week's linky goodness. Now, I'm off to say "no" to something. Not sure what yet, but I'm sure it'll present itself.

On the Gift of Giving to Others by Saying "no"...

I've had relatively few aural revelations from God, but I do remember hearing a voice so close saying,

"but when you overcommit, that forces other people to undercommit..."

I don't always remember this, but when I do, it's helpful...

Christ lives in you.
