Spiritual politics

A new blog site came to my attention today, that I'm sure will be worth following in months to come.

Spiritual Politics, launched by Trinity College religion professor Mark Silk, promises to track the 2008 presidential campaigns, offering daily updates on the intersection of politics and faith.

Janshipps_2 Besides Dr. Silk, the roster of contributors includes John Green of the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life; and Jan Shipps, a lifelong Methodist that Wikipedia says is "generally regarded as the foremost non-Mormon scholar of the Latter Day Saint movement."

"This election season, Democrats have been deciding that faith matters a whole lot while Republicans are trying to figure out exactly how much it should matter," Dr. Silk tells Religion News Service. "It's a great time for a student of religion in America to be alive and blogging."

Agreed. Let's keep an eye on this one, at www.spiritual-politics.org.
